Living Green
The concept of “green” was the natural way 100 years ago. Over the past century, “progress” has changed the way we build, furnish, eat, drive and live. The new consumerism has become a major factor in the dangerous global warming of our planet.
The same awareness that additives and chemicals can be detrimental to our planet and health should be applied to our living spaces. At ClearLake Furniture, we are doing our part. Our furniture is crafted from sustainable hardwoods and environmentally friendly fabrics, paints, and finishes. We believe that our actions – from recycling office waste and using our scrap hardwoods to heat our homes, to the Forest Stewardship Council certification, and our thoughtful “recycling” of a 170 year-old barn into our Gallery and Workshop – will express our belief that we are stewards of our planet.
Taking the LEED
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ promotes sustainable green building and development practices through the highest standards for tools and performance criteria. To qualify for a LEED project, you have to demonstrate a solid grasp of green building practices. We’ve passed the test — which reflects our own standards for preserving our environment — and have been awarded several LEED projects.
